Through the seasons and holidays

Two big family holidays punctuate the Korean year, and the French community has its own fixtures, from the back-to-school café to the Christmas market.

Good to know

  • Chuseok, the autumn harvest festival, and Seollal, the Lunar New Year in winter, are public holidays: the Lycée français is closed, and many Korean families head back to their home regions. Source
  • Séoul Accueil opens the year with a back-to-school café in early September and has held a Christmas market in Seorae Maeul every winter since 2002. Source
  • Yellow dust and fine particle episodes sometimes affect the region: the authorities then advise closing windows and wearing a mask when going out. Source
